The Academy for Disaster-Management Education, Planning, and Trained is a non-profit organization that aims to consolidate the knowledge in the field of disaster mental health and management, for the purpose of advocacy and training of disaster management personnel for more effective functioning.
ADEPT is the disaster management initiative of the National Lutheran Health and Medical Board (NLHMB) which is the official Health & Medical Unit of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church in India (UELCI) engaged in promoting medical work, medical education and other relief to the poor and needy.
ADEPT was set up in January 2005, in the wake of the Tsunami. The National Lutheran Health and Medical Board has been in existence since 1986 and has been providing medical relief in disasters since 1996. the National Lutheran Health nd Medical Board (NLHMB) and the patners of ADEPT had been active in various disasters including the Andhra Pradesh cyclone 1996, the Orissa supercyclone 1999, and The Gujarat Earthquake 2001.
The NLHMB has a strong focus on education, medical, gender, justice, youth, dalits, children, ecology and development activities.
MISSION
To establish an Asia Pacific Disaster Management resource, facilitation and knowledge management Institution
GOAL:
To carry out such disaster management, education, planning, and training activities that go towards achievement of the mission.

To Establish a knowledge management database that will serve as a resource to relief agencies in the Asia Pacific region |

To provide an organized expertise in Disaster Management in the Asia Pacific region. |

To provide medical and psychosocial relief, and recovery work for the benefit of communities affected by disaster |

To undertake such disaster management activities that serve to establish ADEPT as a resource center. |

To assist Non-Governmental development agencies, institutes, National and International by offering suitable assistance and services like consultancy, feasibility studies, surveys, project analysis, screening, reporting, functioning, monitoring and evaluation. |

To conduct trainig progams to ensure a better understanding in the field. |

To provide or help needy masses affected by natural calamities, flood, drought, cyclone and other emergencies and rehabilitation programs. |

To do all such other lawful things that are incidental and/or conducive to the attainment of the above objects, alone, or in association and partnership with other Voluntary Agencies having similar objects; |
MAJOR ACTIVITIES:

Natural Calamities Relief: ADEPT is committed to helping people during times of disaster and natural calamities. |

Community Development: Community health and development projects in disaster affected communities, that include empowering communities through programs that organize women, micro-enterprise development, self-help groups, literacy programs, reproductive health programs. |

Training and Education : All levels of training in Disaster and Project management and Psychosocial intervention including field staff, project administrators and managers, decision makers, governement agencies and NGOs.

Consultacy: Providing consultancy in Disaster Management, psychosocial intervention and Counseling to Governmental and Non-Governmental organizations, Educational Institutions, Companies, relief agencies and donors
